Originally from Chicago. Marvin Banks hit the LA area in 1982. Known in most circles as “SweetBass”.  He is one of the Funkiest Bassist around.  This very talented & seasoned musician is a hidden treasure. Playing various instruments.  He also sings lead and background for a multitude of artists professionally.  As well as being in the role of Musical Director on many of these projects.

Early successes include working with Curtis Blow, The Emotions, R. Kelly, and the Staple Singers as a studio musician & a background singer at a subsidiary of RCA Records.

His touring career began in the mid-’80s with such greats as, Patrice Rushen,  The Gap Band (world tour), and the Bob Hope USO tour.

​

In the 90’s he formed’ Marvelous Music Productions’. Producing many Rap, singing, and musical acts around LA.  As well as writing for various cable network projects.

​

Around 2010 he became the Musical Director for JADAR Entertainment. While also presenting his own band (TYGHTSHIP) to various venues.

​

Today, Marvin “SweetBass” Banks is writing and producing some of his own works.
